Interview: Photographer Roderick G. Tan (Philippines)
Roderick G. Tan is a Commercial & Editorial Photographer based in the Philippines. His 6 years’ experience in photography lead him and his works to be published in different magazines, books, and newspaper locally & internationally, such as Discover Paradise Magazine in Japan, SHE Magazine, Certified Positive Planner, Weddings Digest, and Beauty of Arts International Magazine in Netherlands. He is also a Photography Trainer and Mentor by profession, excels in mentoring Photojournalist for the Department of Education trainings conducted in different regions of the Philippines, mentoring Street Photographers & Fashion Photographers of the Philippines in every photography workshops conducted in their country, and a Heritage Photographer of the Las Piñas Heritage Guiding Association. A Chief Photographer at Pitgames Media Inc.
Roderick once had given up his career as a photographer back in year 2013, when a burglar broke into his house and stole all his cameras & other photography equipments. But, that doesn't stopped him in photography for long because nothing can break the passion of a photographer from capturing the peculiar events and his manipulation on his own photograph. And that what makes him different. As he always says, "We photograph our vision."
Can you tell us a little bit about you?
An Editorial & Commercial Photographer based in the Philippines. A Trainer & Mentor for DepEd's Photojournalism Workshop.
How and when did you get into Photography?
It all began in 2009 when I started contributing my photos in the newspaper where my photos got published every week for 1 month, that's the time I've decided to push through.
What does Photography mean to you?
Photography is more like capturing my vision.
Please briefly describe your Photography style for our readers.
About style, actually I’ve got no style. I guess it all depends on the opportunity.
Where do you get inspiration from?
From Frustrations and imperfections
Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
I want the picture to be Striking and dynamic.

Both
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I'm a Paid Professional yet working excitedly as always like a hobbyist.
What has been your most memorable session and why?
I have many memorable sessions in my photography life.
