Interview: Photographer Steffen Karl (Germany)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Steffen Karl. I am an ambitious hobby photographer from Stuttgart, Germany.
I love to travel and explore the different cultures and the taste of their food.
How and when did you get into photography?
In 2014 I was in London to refresh my English. I took my first camera with me to make some snapshots. There was a Chinese model in my English class, and she asked me to take same photos of her for Instagram. This was the beginning.
What does photography mean to you?
I spend the most of my spare time with photography. It is a balance for my job as project manager. It is creativity, fun and meeting other peoples.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I like it natural. Most of the time it is only the model, the camera and natural light. No makeup artist, no flashlight.
Where do you get inspiration from?
It depends, sometimes it is the location, sometimes I look at photographers from a different genre. But normally, it is the model.
Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
Yes, but it is only a starting point. Most of the time the final result looks different.
Studio, on location or both?
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I am a Nikon shooter from beginning. My favorite lens is the 85mm.
What do you think of our new magazine?
I really like to browse through the magazine. See what other photographers and models are doing.
