Interview: Model Malin Marianne Torlén (Sweden)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m from Sweden and grew up in the area around Stockholm. But now living and feel at home on the west coast, in Gothenburg. I love spending time with my dog Kennedy, and I'm a big fan of “fika” with my best friends and family.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

About appearance, I try to be happy about and accept the features I'm given. Ok, if I could have less reactive skin I wouldn't say no. But I believe you tend to be happier and more grounded if the general view of your body is about function - what you are able to do - rather than how it looks.

How did you start modeling?

I started pretty late, in my 20s, and were scouted in the street.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I think it is fantastic and fun in parts. I’ve been dancing and done some amateur theatre and love the creativity, aesthetic expression and all new meetings the modeling contains.

What is your beauty regimen?

I have extremely sensitive skin and try to keep the number of products on my face to a minimum. I like Dermalogicas ultra calming-series and I use a mineral foundation from Jane Iredale, that’s actually often about it.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I have “my own” facial features and - probably due to dancing - good body control. And I believe I'm pretty self going and free in front of the camera.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m studying to become a social worker, and my biggest plans is in that field of work. Still, if/when I get cool and inspired shoots I love to keep working as a model from time to time.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

I Believe it's the amazing people I’ve been fortunate to work with and sometimes also got to know outside shooting.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

Make sure you feel happy and safe with yourself and listen to your inner voice; what do I feel good about and what do I wish to be part of etc. And have fun with it!

What do you think of the magazine?

I have to admit, I’m not very good at keeping up with it. But from what I've seen it's a lot of inspiring articles and of course beautiful pictures!
