Interview: Photographer Didier AMATA (Belgium)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Didier Amata, I am 54 years old and I come from the province of Liege in Belgium. At the beginning Photography was only a curiosity. By now it has become a full-time passion.
How and when did you get into photography?
Fifteen years ago, I bought my first camera, a Sony Compact 4MPX. I took pictures of everythingwithout any great inspiration.
What does photography mean to you?
First and foremost, I would say, it is an encounter with different persons (models, stylists, make-up artists) as well as an exchange of ideas.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I mainly shoot portraits and women bodies that I appreciate to highlight.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I take inspiration from social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest and I am greatly influenced by photographers such as Sean Archer, Samuel Bouget and Franck Lords
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
I often send a Moonboard to the Model in order to inspire her, but ideas and improvisation are welcome.
Studio, on location or both?
I have a studio but I like to move around for outdoor shoots, I really like natural light
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
I'm professional in the part time because i working in a company as a mechanical
What has been your most memorable session and why?
I would say each session is memorable. In my point of view, each person brings something of her personality.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I have used Canon for more than ten years now. Recently, I have changed for a Sony A7RIII. Regarding camera lenses, I appreciate the 85 MM and 36 MM as fix focal and I also appreciate the 70-200.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Work, work, work...never let go or despair
