Interview: Model Demi Emaus (The Netherlands)

Can you tell us something about yourself?

Hi, I'm Demi Emaus and I'm 22 years old. I live in a small town in the Netherlands, called Groenlo. I graduated as a hairdresser and I've been able to do a lot of things. I also started as a freelance model 1.5 years ago, which I really enjoy.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

To be honest, nothing. Nobody is perfect, so am I. Everyone has imperfections, that's who you are. I also grew up in a family where I don't know love and where it was always said that I wasn't beautiful. When I was young, I always believed in that too. It makes me insecure. But after many years, I can say that I’m beautiful, also with my imperfections. I know that many others are/have been insecure. That is why I want to say to everyone: be happy with who you are, because you are beautiful!

How did you start modelling?

I helped a colleague with a hairdressing competition. I talked to a photographer, Johnny ten Have, who was there. He said I should give it a try. So I had my first shoot and I liked it. Now I like to stand in front of the camera in different settings. I try to enjoy every moment.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I like to show the world a bit of myself. Besides that, you also get to know so many new people and places. However, you have to be careful with people who approach you, as there are many people with other intentions. It’s also really nice to see yourself in a photo, since every setting expects something different from you. Of course you have to be open to that, to be able to work well together with a team.

What is your beauty regimen?

My beauty regimen is to have a healthy lifestyle. I really enjoy sports to stay fit. It also gives you a healthy mindset, which I find very important.

What are your plans for the future?

Within this industry, I like to discover a lot more. So I'm always open to new challenges.

What are your favorite experiences?

The best thing about modeling is meeting so many nice people and places. I also like to see myself in different ways.

Do you have any advice for who wants to start as a model?

If you want to become a model, make sure you are strong, because the fashion world can be very hard. And make sure you stay as close to yourself as possible!

What do you think of the magazine?

It's a nice way to tell something about yourself. It is also very nice to read all the experiences of others.
