Interview: Model Kateryna Aresi Startseva (Ukraine) (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I was born in a soviet family and grew up in difficult conditions: sometimes we missed light, sometimes water and sometimes even food.. But still I remember my childhood as a beautiful moment, a moment of freedom, that I believe modern children can’t even immagine. There was born my passion for the theatre and the acting itself. And there I received my first “No” during an audition to the Odessa National Theatre. That didn’t stop me, but gave value to the study.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

Omg, well.. Despite the appearances, I judge a lot my work and expect always so much from myself. I wish sometimes I could just enjoy it a little bit more.. But I’m working on this actually ;)

How did you start modelling?

First time I was scouted on the streets of my city. But I didn’t give it much importance. Then I moved to Italy for study and when I was 20 I was advised by a photographer I knew and later by my theatre acting teacher, so I subscribed in the local Milan agency and the very first casting I got my first job. But this was a side job for me, while I was working in the company and still I dreamed to be an actor and to start to study for it. What I actually did countless job experiences later, but better late then never.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I think it’s a nice work, making you feel really good. Why not? I’m not saying that it’s stupid to use your beauty to work. And I’m sure when you are young you can have so many beautiful experiences.

What is your beauty regimen?

Haha none. No, really, I just try to feel my body every moment. When I open the fridge I “feel” what is right for me today. I like to run. And I try not to be stressed, cause stress makes really suffer the body, beside the soul. And I almost never use make up on my skin, so my skin is perfect.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I pay attention to the details. When I prepare for an important casting I know what the director is looking for. But it’s also nice to find something that can surprise, first of all myself and then people around me. I also enjoy challenges. Something that I never did before is always extremely challenging for me and I like to go for that adrenaline rush haha.

What are your plans for the future?

I think to be a very well prepared and also talented. In this moment of my life I’m just looking for an important opportunity that will bring me pretty fast to the huge success in my job, I feel ready for it. But if I think of my future.. there are also other things, that sure I value even more: the family.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

I can’t not mention my last movie that is out exactly tomorrow (21/04) on all digital platforms: “Non mi uccidere”. It’s a noir story and I enjoyed really a lot working for it. It’s a huge project, involving an extremely special team of people and directed by visionary Andrea De Sica, that is a wonderful human being in the first place.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?

I don’t like giving advices. But if I could advice my younger self, I would say to keep it simple and to enjoy it, that’s all. Every thing that we enjoy and do putting inside our heart is always a special thing, whether other people like it or not. And yes, try to find your talent, your special light to bring in this world, we all have one.

What do you think of the magazine?

The magazine is a fresh wind in the global panoramic and I appreciate so much there is space for young and talented people to express a free art.
