Interview: Photographer Aleksandr Kurennoi (Russia/Thailand)
Can you tell us a little about you?
Award winning portrait photographer and professional acrobat.
How and when did you get into photography?
I started photography when I traveled with Cirque du Soleil in USA/Canada tour, I did a cityscapes and architecture photography mostly.
What does photography mean to you?
I like to do some photos for myself, happy if somebody likes it also.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I do classic and art portraits.
Where do you get inspiration from?
Music and movies sometimes.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yes.
Studio, on location or both?
Both.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Photography is my hobby but photography teacher become my profession.
What has been your most memorable session and why?
Most of my sessions are memorable for me, I don’t do a lot of sessions, like 10-15 in a year.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Sony, but I don’t care about camera brands at all. I will always choose whatever is less expensive because quality is pretty much the same. Favourite lens is 35 1.4 (sigma, sony, Nikon, whatever brand it is)
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
You need to understand if you want to make a high level interesting photos or make money on photography, usually its completely separate ways to go.
