Interview: Photographer Marcin Glabus (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? I am a photographer from Poland, I live in Poznan. How and when did you get into photography? It started in secondary school when I got may first analog camera. I was learning how to use it and to my big surprise it took great photos. Later on in 2008 I got my first reflex camera. I took photos of friends and family.A pesrson who inspired me to show my photos to a public was my friend Anna who dealt with printing my pictures. What does photography mean to you? Photography is the way to show how I see things. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I take mostly women. This is portrait and nudity. I publish black and white photos not to distract a viewer from a model, her body, her face. Where do you get inspiration from? I do not watch many photos because of lack of time. My Models inspie rme. Each and every woman is different and you can show her in a different way. I tal to Models a lot and explain what I expect. Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? Yes, I know from the very beginning what the frame should look like. There are a couple of versions of one frame and I choose one to publish. Studio, on location or both? Both. Each location offers a different outcome. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Both. What has been your most memorable session and why? My most memorable is the one about freckles. I invited 5 models beautifully covered with freckles. The photos were splendid, we had plenty of fun. It was a studio session. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon + Nikkor 24-70mm / Pentacon + Sonnar 180mm/2.8 What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? One should take lots of pictures. Getting experience, experimenting is essential. Do not start with buying an expensive camera, just get to know your models, lots of them. Talk with other photographers about their gear. What do you think of our new magazine? It looks proffesional and it is. Congratulations!
