Interview: Photographer Trieu Thai Country (Italy)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Trieu Thai and I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand after the Vietnam war. Few months later my family and I managed to go to Italy, where i currently live.
How and when did you get into photography?
In the beginning i was more into travel video but realizing that i was not so good at it, i wanted to improve from the basis. I begun attending a photography course and from that on I found out that photography was my thing.
What does photography mean to you?
I strongly believe that everyone has an artistic inclination and photography it’s my call. I’m far from being an artist but taking pics allows me to express my artistic side.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I’m more into portrait photography.
I must confess that my pictures not always deliver any kind of message, but just celebrate beauty in my eyes.
Where do you get inspiration from?
Usually I seek for a place that gives my vibes and then I look for a model.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yeah, always. I use Pinterest for my references but in the end I follow the flow during the shooting. 7 Studio, on location or both? Especially on location.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Just and hobbyist for now.
What has been your most memorable session and why?
The premaman session for my first son to come. It was very emotional, full of love.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
I started with Samsung (APSC), then Olympus (m4/3) and now Sony A7.3. So far by now for my portrait is the best camera I ever had. I really love the Sony 85 1.8, quite cheap lens that delivers great results.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Keep on learning, from photography course, from tutorial on YouTube, whatever, keep trying to improve.
What do you think of our new magazine?
It’s a great magazine! I really love the pics selected and the interviews.
