Photographer Alessandro Obinu (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Alessandro Obinu, I am 25 years old and I live in Bologna, Italy. My greatest passion is photography but I also love cinema, music and travelling.

How and when did you get into photography?

I started to be interested in photography from January 2016.

I bought a simple compact camera to keep a memory of some evening with friends, but in reality I started immediately taking pictures of everything that happened.

Six months later I started with portraits, using a reflex camera.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography is a lot of things for me. It's the way to express myself through emotions. A break from everything else. A way to meet new people, specially meeting someone with the same passion. A strong passion that makes me feel good and now I can’t imagine my life without photography.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I am a portrait photographer but I'm also in love with fineart photography and fashion photography.

I mainly work with natual light and I like to play with colors during the shooting and in post-production. Generally i prefer no makeup for the models, except for editorial work that requires more professional make-up and styling.

Where do you get inspiration from? I may seem a little trivial but I get a lot of my inspiration from art, other photographers, films and books. You can get inspiration from everything around us.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

Yes, very often lately, especially when it comes to fashion photography.

In general, whether it is fashion photography, portraits or artistic projects, I always try to get a clear idea of what I have to do. During the shooting phase, I also like to improvise.

Studio, on location or both? I prefer outdoors locations ’cause i love the natural light.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

For now it is still a hobby, in the future it could become a job, who knows…

What has been your most memorable session and why?

I do not have one in particular. Every session is at the same importance for me.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

I use a Nikon with Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4. I love this lens.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

You must believe it. If you love what you do and believe in what you do the satisfactions come

What do you think of our new magazine?

It’ is really interesting with great models and artists. It's a pleasure to be here with you!
