Interview: Model Dominika Walaszczyk (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I am dietetics student living in Wroclaw. I love to self-improve and live life in the fast lane. I am striving to be as good as possible in things I love. I cannot imagine doing something that I don’t like. The love for modelling has appeared about three years ago. I took part in many photographic workshops and open airs. I also devote my time to developing in the direction of dietetics. I actively work as a volunteer as well, because helping is my passion.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I try to keep working on my character, my weaknesses. I think it is very important. I observe my behavior and try to deduce from it whether I am the person I would like to talk with. Actually , I would definitely like to control my laziness haha. As for the appearance, I wouldn’t like to change anything in myself. I'm not saying that I'm perfect. I obviously have defects like most of us, but aren’t they making us special? In my opinion accepting our flaws let us to live with harmony with ourselves.

How did you start modeling?

My start in modeling was a complete coincidence! I met a photographer at a wedding where I worked as a nanny. He offered me a photo session. It turned out better then I thought and after the publication I started getting suggestions from photographers from my area. I loved it, I carried out many projects and with a passing time I started to receive offers from people from all over Poland.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I think it's a great thing that creates a lot of opportunities for us. I met a lot of great people, visited new cities. Many girls are travelling the world. It is definitely a great adventure. I think that not everyone is able to be a model and that makes it special. However, we hear a lot about the fact that the model's work can be dangerous. There are many photographers who suggest great projects, which in fact aren’t their. It happened to me many times. This is why we should be vigilant!

What is your beauty regimen?

The most important thing for me is taking care of my face and hair. Most importantly - I love doing it! I am using only natural cosmetics. My secret is using oils, they have magical power! They make the face shiny. I don’t use everyday foundation or other “heavy” cosmetics. Skin is suffering too much during heavy make-up sessions! I try to drink a lot of water, which has a beneficial effect on our entire body. I always choose a walk instead of bus and quite often go to the gym.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I think that I am distinguished by the confidence and the fact that I am focused on success. I like to feel that everything that surrounds me makes me the best version of myself. That's why I love what I do, focus on it, and have a small handful of people with me. I have goals and plans in my life and I focus on going in their direction step by step. I just know what I want from life!

What are your plans for the future?

I want to realize as many interesting projects with passionate people as it is possible and open up to new challenges to have a full range of different photos in my portfolio. It helps a lot in getting new orders. I plan to continue working on myself, become a dietician and take a personal trainer course!

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

My favourite thing in photo sessions is that I can play on them. I can feel like someone else for a moment! I imagine that I am a specific person and I do my best to reflect it with my mimicry and body. I love makeups and sessions in a climate that does not accompany me on a daily basis. It's a great experience!

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

If someone dreams about working in this industry, first of all, he should never give up. It's not so easy to show up, the field is very big. In my opinion best idea is starting with unexperienced photographers and building your portfolio with them step by step. You need to work on your skills and improve them.

What do you think of the magazine?

I think that Modellenland Magazine is a great magazine that appreciates the efforts of all photographers and models. There is no other such! People usually see beautiful pictures, and they do not know what is behind all of this. Modellenland Magazine allows you to see the process from the other side. Dominika Walaszczyk
