Interview: Model Luna Lopez (Netherlands)

16 Mar 2020

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Luna Lopez, a 32-year-old Dutch-Spanish (nude) model living in The Netherlands with my beloved, a dog and a cat. I was born in this lovely little country but I love to travel to Spain to visit family and explore my other roots as well, and off course for the sun that I need haha. I model part-time; it is not my main job. As a profession, I am a dietitian and Classical Hatha Yoga teacher.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

Nothing at all, I love myself the way I am. It wasn’t always like this when I was younger, but modeling contributed to this in a very strong way.

How did you start modeling?

I have been modeling since spring 2016. I met a photographer in Brussels who asked me if I wanted to do a test shooting for his (nude) workshops and so it started. I did a few workshops with this photographer and started to build a network on my own in The Netherlands as well. I mostly do lingerie and nude modeling, but since it is getting harder and harder on social media to share my work, I am more into fashion modeling as well these days.

What do you think of the work as a model?

By starting my modeling life through workshops I also learned a lot about photography, photographers and how to pose as a model. It was a good experience for me to grow as a model and continue modeling on my own. I really feel blessed to had this opportunity. Also, I like to meet photographers and models who have different styles on their own as well. This way I always feel inspired to create at my best with them. That is why I love modeling and photography so much. There is so much to discover and to create together. Meeting new photographers and models makes this job enjoyable over and over again. Not a single shooting is the same because of this. When you enjoy what you do with 100% involvement it is always enjoyable no matter how many times you do it.

What is your beauty regimen?

Not only for a shooting but in general I like to take care of myself. With a degree in nutrition, aesthetics and yoga I guess it is clear I am interested in the inner and outer wellbeing of myself and others. So, I try to eat healthy and eat plant-based, meditate and do yoga a few times a week, do beauty rituals from time to time using natural products and have long walks in the forest with my dog daily. This keeps me balanced in life and also helps for a shooting off course.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

When I meet new or have a strong and permanent collaboration with photographers I always hear that I have ‘something different’. For me it is still a mystery what they mean with this, but maybe that is the whole point, I can be quite mysterious, in a good way. When I work several times together with a photographer they are always surprised of the new and growing outcome of the shooting. I always try to get in touch with the feeling/emotion the shooting needs to have and to empathize with the style of the photographer, I do this without having any expectation about the shooting so the creativity during a shoot can flow. That is also why I don’t talk that much while I am posing or during a shooting. Because of this I can give the very best of me without copying. I always try to keep it close to myself though, but still that it fits their style also.

What are your plans for the future?

I would love to travel the world more, discover and shoot on beautiful locations with photographers from all over the world.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

Meeting a lot of different photographers and models is one of my main favourite experiences of modeling. Have good talks and create together. This helps to expand my portfolio, but also let me grow as a person.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

As I am not working for any agency I don’t have any advice on this point. If models want to start nude modeling or modeling at all, my advice to select and ask photographers who are experienced with the genres you want. This helps you to understand the photography and shooting world and let you grow as a model as well and become more confident. Always be selective about the photographers you choose, because there are also perverts out there who only want to shoot because you look good. That is a no for me. Getting in touch with and meet/work with other models in the same genre also helps a lot to start modeling, as they can tell you all about it as well.

What do you think of the magazine?

I love that there is a magazine that pays so much attention on the variety in the world of photography and modeling, selecting beginners and experiences ones. The diversity of the pictures and interviews makes it a very interesting and good magazine to read. I want to thank you for selecting me and wish you all the best with the magazine!
