Interview: Model Dana Myrvig (Denmark)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I am 25 years girl with a bubbly personality, who strive to make a difference for other people. I finished a bachelor degree in social education this year, and are now working at a home for people with disabilities. I am a really positive an happy person who always sees the glass as half full and make the best out of everyday.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I can earnestly say that I wouldn’t change a thing about my self. I learn new things about myself everyday and I believe it is okay to make mistake as no one is perfect and we learn from our actions. I have always thought that the most important important way to learn how to be your best self, is to live life with open arms and strive for being happy and doing good.

How did you start modelling?

I started modelling when I was about 16 years old. I was stopped in the train by a woman, who asked me if I’ve ever been modelling before. She offered me a job as a model for a danish fashion brand, where I was advertising their clothes. Alongside my job, photographers started to get in touch with me and I learned that I really loved expressing myself through modelling.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I love working as a model because of the work and effort that is done at every photosshoot. I feel home in front of the camera because that is my creative space where I can express myself, what I feel and what I want other people to see in my work. I love that you get to conversate and meet so many creative people, models and photographers MUA etc. The depth of every photo, lightning texsture the pose the looks, overall creating the scene for the photography.

What is your beauty regimen?

First of all I use products for my skin and hair without perfume, silicone or parabens. I like to cleanse my skin with a toner morning and evening followed by a day and night creme. Twice a week I remember to treat my skin with a mask and scrub. I always braid my hair at night and I’m only washing maximum twice a week. I’m putting a hair mask and natural oils In my hair and style my hair in updo hairstyle until Its time to wash my hair again.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I think what distinguishes me from others is that I am a very compassionate person which I see as my biggest strength through my job as a social educator because it’s giving me the urge and energy to do something good for other people. I have a very fiery soul and are very passionate about what i am doing and want to do in the future, which I think is a very important quality when you want to reach your goals.

What are your plans for the future?

My plan is to take a candidate in psychological pedagogy next year and then a phd as a sector scientist, because I really strive to make a difference by my work. My dream at the moment is to start a volunteer organisation to help people with disabilities, because I’ve experienced through my work that they often feel alone. Alongside becoming an international model, these are my biggest plans.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

One of my favorite experiences so far is being a miss Universe Denmark finalist, since I learned so much about my self after being a part of it. I learned about mental health styling and catwalk and besides that I got to meet so inspiring women with beautiful friendships along the way. I had the sweetest national director and mentors who supported me all the way. The experienced changed me in many ways by teaching me to take a chance and believe in myself.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?

Be professional with your meetings and shoots, and have some knowledge in general about fashion, photography and beauty. Be patient because practice makes perfect.

What do you think of the magazine?

I think the magazine is beautiful and I really love about it that it promotes photographers, models, stylist and make up artists. The fact that it has readers in 160 countries is amazing because it gives people the opportunity to see different creative minds across different countries.
