Interview: Model Joanna Borov (United States)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m originally from Poland, I left my country to study at University of the Arts London and started my modeling career in the UK. Two years ago I moved to California as it has always been my dream. My zodiac sign is Pisces. I love animals and I adopted a small dog and named him Chi Chi Boo. I’m very positive and I believe in good energy and gratitude. In my free time I like to be active and do some sports, especially outdoor, I’m also very much into fashion and art.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I was better organized. As a model and entrepreneur I have a lot of things going on and I sometimes I lack good organization.

How did you start modelling?

I started modeling part time when I was studying in London, I thought of it as of a great adventure but soon it became more permanent.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I love it! I think it is very challenging and not easy, but it also so much fun! I’ve traveled to amazing places like Korea, Argentina, Paris, NYC, met great people and took part in some exciting projects. I always like to focus on positive aspects and modeling has a lot of them!

What is your beauty regimen?

I eat very healthy and drink a lot of water, I think it’s super important for the skin. I use a gentle face wash in the morning, toner, face cream and I always put sun screen. I usually don’t apply heavy makeup. I clean my skin in the evening and use use different night creams depending on what my skin needs at the moment. I do face mask at least once a week. I only use good brands and products without parabens. My favorite brands are La Mer, Kiehls, Dior and Peter Thomas Roth.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I’m very empathetic and compassionate. Also, I think I have a great intuition.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m quite superstitious and sometimes I prefer not to talk too much and just do it, but I can tell you that I have a lot of great plans for the future and most of them are in the fashion industry. I recently started to design for women and I’m working on my line Jo Borov, I, also hope to do some modeling gigs in different states as it would be a great experience.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

I’m glad I had a chance to work with so many amazing creatives on wonderful projects in the past but of course, I have my favorite moments. I really loved my photo session with Yasmine Kateb for Playboy Ukraine cover, I enjoyed Summer Fashion Show in Monaco, shooting on the desert in Dubai with Satish and modeling for Limerence LA at Rag Doll Pink Palace in Los Angeles.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?

I’d say you have to do your best, have a positive attitude and be persistent! Also it’s important to take care of yourself- not only physically but also mentally. I think mindfulness and meditation are as much important as sports.
