Interview: Photographer Bragi Kort (Iceland)

Can you tell us a little about you? I am born in Iceland and have always lived here. I worked in the professional audio business for quite awhile until I decided to combine photography and tour guide and stared running photography tours in 2015 and started my own company www.arcticshots.is in 2016

How and when did you get into photography? I have always been into photography coming from a family which have a great deal of photographers, even my grandparents were the first to open up a photography service in my hometown early last century.

What does photography mean to you? It was a passion and it still is although working as a photography guide results in lesser time and energy to pursue your own photography as in model and fine art nude. I like capturing beautiful images, both for myself and others who might enjoy them.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. Being a photography guide a lot of my photographs are landscape although I have recently gotten a little bit into bird photography, but my passion is model and fine art nude photography.

Where do you get inspiration from? Icelandic landscape and of course the internet :D

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture? When shooting models/fashion/editorial then yes, fine nude not so much, I like to go out with a model, explore and when the right light is at the right location let the model express herself.

Studio, on location or both? Did some studio work but now on location.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am mostly a paid professional although I do some TFP work when I feel like it, I am not selling fine art nude and paying models just to collect pictures on my HD is pointless unless the model can meke use of the pictures.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Canon, probably RF28-70 although I do use my RF 100-500 a lot for everything.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I honestly don't know, I think it entirely depends on what kind of photography service you are going to offer and if there is space on the market, This business is really tough everywhere, especially in low populated places like Iceland.

What do you think of our new magazine? Looking great.
