Interview: Photographer Dawid Błaszczyk (Poland)

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? My name is Dawid Błaszczyk. I am 23 years old. I live in Lodz in Poland. I am studying journalism and social communication.

How and when did you started photography? My adventure with photography began when I had 18’s birthday. Then, I decided to buy my first amateur camera and started catching the moments.

What does photography mean to you? The photography became my great passion and with time started being also a work. I hope that in the future photography will be already my only work which will bring me attractive salary and satisfaction.

Please describe briefly your photography style for our readers. I focus on women beauty and try to show it in the best way I know. Natural black and white shoots are definitely my favorite ones. Apart from that I am also a fan of street photography. City jungle gives me a lot of possibilities for amazing frames. What is more, while working with a model, you can also see some kind of sight seeing.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Mostly I am inspirated by Internet. Pinterest or Tumblr which give us a lot of good ideas or show the way of thinking about photography. Works of Peter Lindbergh or Mario Testino are very personal and inspiring for me.

Do you think in advance how your picture should look like? I am trying to have some plan for photoshoot. Together with a model we are planning and looking for some ideas or inspirations before our shooting. We have a base to our photo session and later we can also improvise.

Studio, on location or both? Everything depends on time of the year. I like to work in studio and it is a good option for cold winter days. During the warm season of the year I work mostly on the location.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Definitely I am aspiring for paid professionals feeling.

What is your most memorable session and why? All photo shoots were crucial for me so I do not have a favorite one.

What is the biggest source of inspiration in your work? Definitely my the biggest source of inspirations are words of praise from my friends, family and strange people who can evaluate my works and express their own opinion. All these people are motivating me to work harder and improve my knowledge in photography.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Of course Canon ! I was starting my adventure with photography from this camera and I will be faithful. Mainly I work using 50 mm lens and it is my favorite one.

What would you suggest a new photographer who is looking to start their own business? The best advice for young starting photographers is to believe in themselves, their abilities and opportunities. Never to give up and do not look for the opponents. For „us” photographers it is normal that there are good and bad times. Just keep head up and do what you love

What do you think of our new magazine? I think the whole idea of Modellen land magazine is the perfect option for young and raising artists. We can show our works and tell our story. Also we can express our feelings about photography and give some advices for other artists.
