Interview: Photographer Foly Sasha (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you? I’m Polish commercial photographer. I am manufacturer od the photo session. I live in Katowice, I am experienced Manager in a large corporation and I am the coach od squash and motorcyclist almost like McGyver. How and when did you get into photography? I started my adventure with photography when I was 9 years old and I got from my Uncle camera-typical Russia Smiena. BTW I took it everywhere and I was doing photos. Two years later I had own darkroom in which I produced photos. I mention it’s nice: the smell od chemicals, drying photos on the string and stories my granfather about the secrets of photographic workshops. I’m glad that I am among those photographers who have jad the opportunity to experience it. What does photography mean to you? It is a habit. I am addicted to holding in my hands the camera like other for example cigarette. When for a few days I don’t do the photos I feel sick. I meet greate people and I move in their world sometimes UP to age of 80. Always in my pictures is dominated by portraits of women. Maybe is that because I very easy make a contact on the plan. I can see what women like see in theirself. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I specialized n sensual and female portraits b&w. I love to play the light. This is the basis of my photo session. Where do you get inspiration from? Always-of course -from the best photographers who companion on my photo groups. My master is Peter Coulson. Thanks Peter for what you are doing in pfotographer’s world. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? Together with the model we know where we are going . We have a common project, idea. The rest of it is experience and take from the models everything what is the best. Studio, on location or both? I like an interesting place. Studio I reserve for experienced models and classic portraits. I like also the sensual location. Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? I am one and the other. I’m doing the paying private sessions. They are very interesting experience. They are also very requiring, but it is my hobby. What has been your most memorable session and why? Each session is for me a special event. I can based on photos restore hundreds of memories , emotions. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work? So as I mentioned for me the best photographer b&w is Peter Coulson. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? I worked on both systems but I like and use Nikon. My favorite lens is 85mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, 70-200mm 2.8

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? I think the most important thing is to find own style and what you like. I don’t do wedding photography because it is not my climate. I don’t have a satisfaction from taking pictures people who eat to much ta the table. What do you think of our new magazine? You are going in the right direction. About MODELLENLAND is getting lauder. Congratulations . I see in it a lot of models whom I had opportunity to work, I am very happy from this. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009586894837
